About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Chemotherapy Nurse for a temporary block booking in Bath. This role is ideal for a registered nurse with oncology or chemotherapy experience who is confident delivering safe, high-quality care to patients receiving cancer treatment.
As a Chemotherapy Nurse, you will support patients throughout their treatment journey, administer chemotherapy and related treatments, monitor patient wellbeing, and work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive safe, person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
As a Chemotherapy Nurse, your responsibilities will include:
- Administering chemotherapy and supportive treatments safely in line with clinical guidelines
- Assessing patients before, during and after treatment
- Monitoring for side effects, adverse reactions and changes in patient condition
- Providing clear information, reassurance and emotional support to patients and their families
- Maintaining accurate clinical records and treatment documentation
- Working closely with oncologists, pharmacists, healthcare assistants and wider clinical teams
- Supporting infection prevention, patient safety and safe handling of cytotoxic medication
- Escalating concerns appropriately and following clinical governance procedures
- Delivering compassionate, professional and patient-focused care throughout the booking
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Active NMC registration
- Previous experience working as a Registered Nurse within oncology, haematology or chemotherapy services
- Chemotherapy administration training or relevant SACT competency
- Strong clinical assessment and communication skills
- Confidence supporting patients undergoing complex treatment
- Good understanding of infection control, patient safety and clinical documentation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- A caring, calm and professional approach
Desirable Experience
- Experience working in a hospital, oncology unit, chemotherapy suite or community cancer care setting
- Cannulation and venepuncture skills
- Experience supporting patients receiving systemic anti-cancer therapy
- Knowledge of cancer pathways and treatment plans
