Live-In Care Worker

Role Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Live-In Care Worker to provide high-quality, person-centred care to an elderly lady in her own home. The role operates on a 2-weeks-on, 2-weeks-off rota, with two care workers alternating the placement to ensure continuity of care.
The client attends a day centre every Tuesday, allowing time for household tasks and weekly shopping.
Key Responsibilities
Personal Care
- Assist with daily personal care, including toileting and showering
- Support the client in maintaining dignity, comfort, and independence
- Encourage a consistent daily routine
Meal Preparation
- Prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and drinks
- Ensure meals are nutritious and tailored to the client’s preferences
- Manage food supplies and plan weekly shopping
Household Duties
- Light household cleaning, including:
- Cleaning
- Laundry
- Washing and ironing clothes
- These tasks can be completed while the client is at the day centre (Tuesdays 9:30am–3:30pm)
- Carry out grocery shopping once per week (family funded)
- On the second week, ensure enough food is purchased to cover:
- The Monday you leave
- The Tuesday when the next carer will shop

- Family provides toiletries; however, the care worker must inform the family when supplies are running low
Daily Routine & Lifestyle Support
- Client wakes between 8:00–8:30am and goes to bed at 10:00pm
- Client sleeps well through the night
- On Sundays, the client’s son takes her to mass at 10:30am and lunch afterwards, allowing time for cleaning and household tasks
Activities & Companionship
- Play music during showering and throughout the day, as the client loves music
- Engage in activities such as:
- Bingo (game provided by family)
- Karaoke
- Support personal grooming and wellbeing:
- Painting nails when needed
- Helping with hair care
- Provide warm companionship and emotional support
Skills & Qualities Required
- Caring, patient, and kind nature
- Experience in live-in care or elderly care (preferred)
- Ability to work independently and manage a household
- Good communication skills
- Respectful of routines, preferences, and family involvement
- Reliable and trustworthy
