Job Summary
- Manage Cancer and Palliative Care Services across the Trust working with clinical and senior professional staff.
- Work with Divisional leaders to ensure high quality services for cancer and palliative care patients, in line with national performance standards.
- Work with external partners to maintain and improve services in line with national, regional and local strategies for Cancer and Palliative Care
- The post holder will be a member of the Trust’s Senior Manager on call rota which requires out of hours commitment.
Education and Qualification
Management degree or equivalent (or in exceptional circumstance – able to demonstrate significant level of equivalent experience)
Knowledge
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of multidisciplinary issues and commitment to multidisciplinary working
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of NHS cancer targets, waiting time rules, stratified pathways, COSD and national audits.
- A clear understanding of the components of Clinical Governance and how these contribute to an integrated and quality driven service
Experience
- Experience within Cancer services
- Senior level management experience within the NHS or similar environment
Skills
- Ability to identify, scope and challenge service improvements and change initiatives
- Ability to solve complex and multidimensional issues
- Able to react quickly where decisions are required urgently
- Able to produce comprehensive reports using data that meets requirements of key stakeholders at all levels
- Advanced analytics including complex data interpretation
- Coaching and mentoring
- Programme and project management skills and experience.
