Mental Health Care Assistant – Stoke on Trent

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Support: Assist patients with personal care needs, including hygiene, dressing, and mobility. Support patients in managing their day-to-day activities and encourage independence where possible.
• Monitoring: Observe and monitor patients’ physical and mental health, reporting any changes or concerns to the nursing staff promptly.
• Care Implementation: Assist in the implementation of individualized care plans under the guidance of registered mental health professionals.
• Therapeutic Activities: Engage patients in therapeutic and recreational activities designed to enhance their wellbeing and social skills.
• Safety: Ensure the safety and wellbeing of patients by following established protocols and maintaining a secure environment.
• Communication: Maintain clear and accurate records of patient care and progress. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
• Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other healthcare team members to deliver comprehensive care and support for patients.
• Crisis Management: Assist in managing and de-escalating crisis situations, using approved techniques and interventions.

Requirements

• MAPA Trained
• Minimum 6 months of NHS experience
