About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Consultant Haematologist to join our dynamic and supportive team across Derby and Burton. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality haematology services, providing both inpatient and outpatient care, and working closely with a multidisciplinary team to support patients with a wide range of haematological conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist clinical care for patients with malignant and non-malignant haematological disorders.
  • Lead and participate in inpatient ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
  • Support and advise colleagues across the Trust on haematology-related issues.
  • Participate in laboratory oversight, including interpretation of blood films and diagnostic results.
  • Contribute to the delivery of chemotherapy and stem cell transplant pathways where applicable.
  • Take part in the on-call rota to ensure 24/7 consultant cover.
  • Engage in teaching and training of junior doctors, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in clinical governance, service development, and audit activities to drive continuous improvement.

About You

  • GMC registration with a licence to practise.
  • CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) in Haematology or within 6 months of achieving it at interview date.
  • Broad clinical experience in haematology with specialist expertise.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to teaching, training, and ongoing professional development.
